Sheila Ives is a seasoned follower of Christ, having given her life to him at a young age.

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and is trained in Scope Ministries counseling principles as well as Theophostic Prayer Ministry. She is a state licensed minister, commissioned as a minister of counseling, and has been blessed to have been able to use her gifting in this area for many years.

Theophostic Prayer Ministry

At FCM, one of the best ministry tools we have come across for aiding individuals in their Christian walk is Theophostic Prayer Ministry. Because of its design, it unquestionably depends completely on the Lord for its powerful impact on people.

Theophostic is a coined word from two Greek words: Theo meaning God and phos which means light. As Ed Smith, founder of Theophostic describes it: "The combined words denote God's power to illuminate the darkened areas of people's minds. The phos is God's true light, the Spirit of Christ or the Holy Spirit (John 1:4), who brings divine truth into people's lie-based thinking, causing renewal of the mind."

Deaf Services

Sheila Ives is a former sign language interpreter for the deaf. From 1974 to 1980 she trained in ASL under deaf individuals and certified interpreters in Colorado, Texas and Tennessee since no formal college interpreter training programs existed at that time.

In 1980, she passed her screening with National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (NRID) and achieved the Comprehensive Skills Certificate (CSC) level. Since that time she has achieved other local and state level certifications and has served as an interpreter in seven states.
